Interconnect boards by enmech

Traction batteries used in electric and hybrid vehicles consist of an interconnection of various single battery cells. Complex control units monitor this cell array with respect to temperature and voltage of each cell. Actively controlled charge equalization between the cells takes place to realize a long lifetime of the battery cells. The mechatronic solutions from enmech provide electrical connection between the cells and the control unit and also offer additional features that are essential for the maximum safety of the battery. 40 years of experience with flat wiring technology allow us to offer a full mechatronic solution that offers far more features than just "wiring".

  • Our foil-based cell connector unit picks up the electrical potentials at the busbars between the individual cells so that the voltage can be measured. enmech employs for this sophisticated ultrasonic technology or draws on proven riveting processes. To reduce weight bi-metal (copper / aluminum) or purely aluminum busbars are being deployed. enmech’s encapsulation technology protects critical material combinations from corrosive influences.
  • Cell connector units from enmech increase safety: Integrated soldered fuses protect the battery in case of an accident effectively against short circuits and fire. The addition of sensors allows a cell temperature recording as close as possible to the cells. All electrical components can be encapsulated upon request for protection from harmful environmental effects. The connection to the car’s electronic control unit is normally made by using standard automotive connectors.
  • Whether round, or so-called prismatic pouch cells, the enmech cell units can be designed to match any cell type due to the flexibility of the used film material. Our solution compensates positional tolerances within the cell assembly and allows your cells the necessary space for expansion.
  • By employing our technology, very thin cell connector units can be realized. As a result, we not only help you reach your goals for weight reduction but also for enabling the use of batteries in vehicle spaces that were not previously possible.
  • The unique combination of our technology makes it possible to have only a single module for detecting voltages and temperatures of the cells and the electrical interconnection of the cells. Not only the integrated properties enable an entirely new level of safety: enmech’s cell connector units do not need classic round cable technology and can be assembled by you to the cells fail-safe and very efficiently - very safe and simple. The connection of our modules to the control electronics is done by proven automotive connector systems. Monitoring of the crimping force as well as the single crimping process are our standards because of quality reasons. Alternatively, our modules can be soldered directly to your control electronics.
